Happy New Years!

Thought it'd be wise to get in early and wish you all a Happy New Years!

I, like many others, have compiled a huge list of resolutions, such as:

1. Get a job.
2. Get good grades.
3. Lose weight (but I've come to realise that's everyones resolution).
4. Have more fun as I feel 2008 could have been better.
5. Be more confident.
6. Say 'yes' to everything/more things.
7. Meet KoL when they come to Australia...come on, I've liked them for four or so years, I sorta deserve it!

There's a few others ofcourse.
Anyway, have a happy, fun and safe new years!xx

Dear 'Christmas Decoration Thief'

Dear Christmas Decoration Thief,
Why on earth did you steal a bunch of $2 Candy Cane's from my front lawn?
Gosh, I wasn't aware the economy was that bad.

Please return them in their rightful place.

2008 is almost gone.....good things will come in 2009.

Just for the sake of blogging...

I'm really bored tonight, nothing to do.
I'm currently listening to Bloc Party and Klaxons...nothing to exciting to write.

Photos, since I've posted none in awhile.

I'll leave you with this - I'm pretty much addicted to Wii Fit.
Also, I can't wait until New Years.

Christmas was great!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and got amazing gifts!

I woke up at about 8am then watches TV until about 9am. We (family and I) opened our presents. After, we headed off to my nans for Christmas lunch with my mums side of the family. We went back home at about 4pm, then went to see my Dad's side of the family...which ended up being a very funny occasion.

I received a Wii Fit, DVDs, a limited edition Johnny Cash guitar, loads of cash, Sanity vouchers, makeup, Hoyts vouchers, more money, jewellery, HK mugs, chocolates, socks, underwear, slippers, lollies, Kings of Leon tickets (it was part of my Christmas present) etc.

I ended up going to sleep at about 9am and ended up sleeping until 1pm. When I wokeup, I realised my nose stud fell out during my sleep and the hole closed up. Oh well, I'm over it.

Today I wokeup and played Wii Fit. Its so much fun, however according to the game, I have a BMI of 14.5, which I'm pretty sure isn't accurate.....I'm thinking its more in the 16-17 range.

I still haven't touched my Media homework.....

MGMT, DECEMBER 11TH, FESTIVAL HALL (MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA)

So, in previous blogs, I mentioned I was attending the Melbourne MGMT show on the 11th of December and was kind of worried due to the negative reviews regarding their live shows. Well, turns out I was worrying over nothing - it was simply amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better show!

MGMT setlist:
*=My personal favoirtes.

OF MOONS, BIRDS AND MONSTERS*
FUTURE REFLECTIONS*
4TH DIMENSIONAL TRANSITION*
PIECES OF WHAT
WEEKEND WARS
THE YOUTH
TIME TO PRETEND
METANOIA
ELECTRIC FEEL
THE HANDSHAKE*
>>>ENCORE<<<
KIDS

I'm pretty sure the setlist is accurate. I wrote it down at 3am Friday morning, so it was pretty fresh in my mind so to speak.

TAME IMPALA:
These Perth psychedelic-rock boys were amazing and did a great performance, even though most people weren't watching them/listening to them. They could only squeeze about 5 songs into their set, due to the long jams they did inbetween songs and all. Being a spectator from the side of the stage (due to being underage, I was unable to buy General Admission tickets), I thought their positioning on stage wasn't the greatest. However, amazing performance once again, a band to keep your eye on.
7.5/10

LUKE STEELE:
Following Tame Impala, Luke Steele (Sleepy Jackson/one-half of Empire of the Sun) took to the stage with an acoustic guitar in hand and some pre-programmed beats. I really thought he did a wonderful performance, however he didn't receive an amazing response from the audience. Prehaps they thought he'd perform an Empire of the Sun tune or two and Nick Littlemore would magically appear? Maybe the crowd just wanted MGMT? Who knows.
8/10

MGMT:
The band of the night, MGMT (pronounced 'em-gee-em-tea' or 'management' or even 'mig-mnt' for all you tools) took to the stage at around 10.05ish. They opened up with 'Of Moons, Birds and Monsters', my favorite song on 'Oracular Spectacular' after a little artistic jam session. 'Weekend Wars' was an obvious crowd winner, as was 'Time to Pretend' and 'Electric Feel'. I personally felt a little embarassed (not sure if thats the right term) when the crowd began singing the tune to 'Time to Pretend' (they later did it to 'Kids'). The band then closed with 'The Handshake' (another personal favorite of mine), before comming back onstage for an encore, performing 'Kids.'

Here is a list of things I really liked about MGMT's performance:
-Andrew's amazement at the fact there were so many people there to see them and the fact it was a sold out crowd. ("Wow, there’s people over there and people over there...and over there...”).

-How short-looking they are!
-The crowd. Aside from a few people, the crowd was amazing. Not many fangirls, teenyboppers or muzzas. There was some random guy a few rows infront with some crazy and outrages dance moves. Supplied many laughs.

-Andrew sitting on James' (or was it Matt's? Can't recall) shoulders. Human totumn pole.

-The jams. Need I say more.

The things I sort of disliked:
-The people who sat down during Metanoia. Serious mood killer.

-The fact no songs from their previous EP's were played.

-The girls who came down just to dance to 'Kids'.

Overall, it was amazing!!
I'd love to see them again.
I regret not hanging back to 'try' and meet them (aye, it's worth a shot) or have some sort of fake id. Oh well, always next time!

10/10

PS: The merch sold out before MGMT were even onstage! I ended up buying a bag with some sort of duck/crayon/marshmellow on it. Very cute.

Pointless Blog Alert.

Today, I found out I got 89% for my Fashion exam, 81% for my Multimedia exam (which, as you may recall, I thought I'd fail) and 77% for my English exam. Romeo and Juliet made me get a lower mark than I'd like, but I did fairly well in the Persuassive section. I'm dreading my Maths results, but I'm sure I did well in Art and Psychology.

Tommorrow (as well as Thursday) is Yr 11 Orientation Day. I'm not excited as I'm pretty much done with school...I guess it's 'that' time of the year were you're just over everything and want a break.

Eclectic Avenue with Sam Sparro

I'm really exhausted for no apparent reason, hence these sentences will be messy and make no sense. I sat for my much dreaded English exam today, as well as my Maths. English wasn't too bad, not as bad as I thought. Fingers crossed for amazing results. Maths on the other hand...well it was basically down hill from the word go. I'm really relieved I only have to sit for one more exam, Multimedia, on wednesday. Then we'll be so free, happy alone - there's a song lyric for you.

The lyrics stated above lead me to my next point - Kings of Leon concert tickets. After many nerve-racking moments, relief set in - we got tickets for the second Melbourne show, which shall be held on the 14th of March, 2009. Pretty excited, however it's so far away for any 'real excitment'. I'm still happy we got them though - lower level seats if you're wondering.

Um, I was planning to post these amazing Sam Sparro photos yesterday but I kind of got sidetracked.
For your viewing pleasure:

Model Mayhem

And no, I'm not referring to the 'professional' modelling site.

I've come to realise that this can be quite a negative blog. Well, not so much negative..more 'bitchy'. So, I've decided to compile a bunch of my favorite models. Not bitching. Just admiring and positiveness!

#1: Jessica Stam - she's my favorite, hence the excess photos.

#2: Miranda Kerr

#3: Daria Werbowy

#4: Lily Aldridge

#5: Kate Moss

#6: Ruby Aldridge

#7: Agyness Deyn

#8: Jessica Miller

Models, Fashion and Examinations

Three exams down and three to go. Today I completed my art exam which required me to analyze two historical paintings, as well as sketching myown hand. The other two exams, which I sat for yesterday, were my Fashion and Psychology exams. Without sounding cocky and over-confident, I'm pretty sure I've done very well on all three exams. They weren't difficult at all and I finished them fairly quickly. Next week, I have Maths, English and Multimedia. I'm very nervous about English, as it's one of my best subjects (I'm good at art subjects and English). Thus, I tend to apply morepressure on myself to do well, mainly because I know I can achieve high results. Maths on the other hand, well I got 8/25 on my Polynomials test this term,so that should give you some indication on how I'll go. Same goes for Multimedia.

On a totally unrelated topic (or prehaps slightly related, as it's to do with fashion, one of my subjects *hint*), I was lurking around on Face Hunter, and came across some amazing clothes, which I'd love to own myself. Damn, we (Melbourne) have style!

Speaking of fashion, the trend of uber skinny models has gone a little to far me thinks....Introducing Olga Sherer aka The-Skinniest-Model-I've-Ever-Seen-In-Awhile. Whilst I think she has a very beautiful face (not to keen on the hair as I'mnot into redheads much), she's just way to thin. Mainly in the arms. Plain and simple. I guess the scary thing is is the fact that she's recently gained a little weight, but she still looks painfully thin. However, I wouldn't mind having her legs to be honest.

I'll wrap this up before it becomes way to dragged out so to speak.I'm going to go and give Law and Order my undivided attention.
Ciao.

Poor Little Rich Girl.

I'm staring blankly at the computer screen, attempting to type something worth your time. Something to keep you entertained. Or, prehaps something that'll make you think, cry or feel motivated. Nothing is commin to mind, but I'm in that blogging mood. I must blog. I have the urge to blog. Thus, I'm dragging out this point-less paragraph so it looks like I've written something important. Doesn't make sense I know. Welcome to my thoughts.
In hope of making this blog worth your time:

When I grow up I want to be like these women...

Thank-you America!

Thank-you for making Barack Obama as your new president. I'm both pleased and thankful for it, even though I'm Australian. If you want to know why I care so much (as I live in a completely different country), that answers are simple:
-America is a major country, therefore what affects them affects us.
-We (Australia) tend to follow them. Sheep, I know.
-He has good beliefs, unlike McCain.
-I strongly disliked Sarah Palin, as well as McCain.

So once again, thank-you.
Change is good.

Ps: Apologise for the whole structure/spelling/grammer of this blog.
Very tired and not in a blogging mood.

this weekend.

So far this weekend....

-1 healing ankle (twisted it after halloween night).
-A huge caffeine intake.
-Endless guitar playing.
-1 broken guitar string.
-Having a 'pre-pms' moment and threating to cut my hair short.
-My mum insisting Disturbia is the worst film ever.
-Having the worst hayfever ever.
-Insomnia.
-My Summer Heights High obsession is back.
-Lots of Ebay shopping.
-Walking into walls/doors repeatedly.

This weekend, all I've been listening to is Empire of the Sun, Ladyhawke and Cold War Kids. Repeatedly.

Tommorrow I'll be seeing Morgan. Overdue.

Why is everyone either a DJ or model?

I'm really unsure on how to start this minor rant, so I'll quickly cut to the chase so when can get it over and done with. Make us all happy. Well, yesterday I found out I had an apparent subject 'clash' therefore I had to make some minor changes. Not that I'm happy with them. Photography isn't running due to lack of numbers, which didn't really surprise me. In it's place, I'm doing Studio Arts. HOWEVER, Photography is still running, it's just being combined with Media, which is pleasing, That bad news - Buisness Management and Literature clashed. I straightout said Lit but I was then told I only had two or three choices of subjects to replace Buisness Managment. Chemistry, Economics or some other subject I had no interest in. So I was forced to drop Literature. Mizzo.

Negative aside, here's something that I love so much.

Ugly = Beauty?

On Tuesday I got my results for my Romeo and Juliet SAC. I got 21/25, which is about 84% I think. I'm pretty happy about the results, considering the fact I thought I would fail miserably.
Today I ended up on the floor about two or three times, thanks to lil Stacey. I 'broke' my tailbone but nevertheless, it was pretty amusing.

So, I've been looking around at 'newbie' models (or models I just haven't heard of yet) and discoverd that most of them are, well, ugly. Yes, the whole 'alien' look is supposedly in, with models who have small heads, eyes that don't look in proportion with their faces, etc.
Examples are Lisa Cant, Heather Marks, Vlada Roslyakova, Jacquetta Wheeler , Querelle and how can I forget....

Masha Tyelna.

Famous for her 'bug-eyed' look. There's something about her that I find uneasy. Plus, she annoys the shit out of me to say the least!
However, there are some fairly goodlooking models around, which have their fair share of 'uniqueness' without being overly unappealing. Miranda Kerr, Kate Moss, Jessica Stam, Gemma Ward (okay, she's not attractive but I can understand how and why she gets work. 'Artfully ugly') and Lily Aldridge.

Lily Aldridge, Jessica Stam, ? , ?
Oh ans to clear things up - no, I'm not jealous. Haha, no way!

Enlighten Me.

News Flash:

'What U Want' is being cancelled at the end of the month. Don't know the exact reason but apparently Channel [V] are trying to focus more on the upcomming summer music festivals, which is fine by me but I don't think there is any need to cancel it completely. I just hope that Channel [V] doesn't turn into MTV aka 'The Devil' (no music, crap 'reality' shows, Pete Wentz everywhere, etc).

In other 'news'...
Here's my semi-finished 'artwork' for 2D art.
Yes, I actually sketched it.
Yes, it looks a hundred times better in real life.
No, I didn't trace it.
